Thanks to the generosity and kindness of the 911th Airlift Wing and the 171st Air Refueling Wing, I was able to take a ride on a KC-135 tanker as it refueled the F-22 Raptor. Truly the ride of a lifetime! Special thanks to Shawn Walleck, PAO of the 911th, and Lt. Col. Don Accamando, Community Manager of the 171st! The weather was gloomy, but the inside of the tanker was anything but! Everyone had ample opportunity to get shots of the refuel, as well as the Raptor flying alongside us, and even the other refuel mission! We spent a good two hours in the air enjoying the unique experience. We were even fed a tasty box lunch, that I was waaay to excited to partake in. I saved it for later, and relived my experience while munching on the chips and sandwich! A big thanks also to the crew of the KC-135; Aircraft Commander Lt. Col. Rick May, Co-Pilot Capt. Chris Mohr, Boom Operator Senior Master Sgt. Gerry Levato and Boom Operator Master Sgt. John Buckwalter. WOW!
